While his professional career is in its early stages, Dr. Abdelaziz has already manifested his considerable clinical skills and a penchant for publishing research papers in some of the field’s most prestigious periodicals. Prior to beginning his Fellowship with The Retina Group of Washington-Georgetown University & Washington Hospital Centers, he completed his Residency at the University Hospitals Case Medical Center’s Ophthalmology program in Cleveland where he served as Chief Resident. It was as a resident that he earned a number of academic honors, including the Exemplary Resident Award, Clinical Research of the Year Award and Top OKAP (Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program) Score Award.
Dr. Abdelaziz’s resume of published or pending co-written articles includes such peer-reviewed publications as JAMA Ophthalmology, Cornea and Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science. He has delivered posters and made presentations at ARVO (Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology), the Cleveland Ophthalmological Society and several other organization’s events.
Volunteering and teaching have been part of Dr. Abdelaziz’s community service routine throughout his training and educational years. He provided eye exams and related services for patients in need at both the Cleveland Free Clinic and the Medworks Clinic. He also conducted medical student teaching sessions for IQ Plus and tutored Advanced Placement undergraduates while at Washington University (St. Louis) Medical School.
